For years, Garrett has incorporated a small piece of dark chocolate into his training diet. To be honest, the exact reason from his nutritionist has been lost from precise memory–helps lower high blood pressure, helps reduce stress, helps lower cholesterol, contains antioxidants that may help prevent cancer…plus it just tastes great, giving you a little bit of pleasure when you might really need it. He prefers a small square of Lindt 90% cocoa, which may be too intense for some.
On Twitter, however, I follow someone who does know the details, @ImmaChocoholic, compiled by blogger Jean Kelsey. I am not quite sure how Jean does it, but she produces a seemingly endless streak of facts and links praising the benefits of chocolate. While I don’t click all the links, I certainly do hit some of them. The content has always been good.
Do a simple search and you will find articles praising the benefits of dark chocolate. Better yet, make it easy on yourself and follow ImmaChocoholic. You’ll get tidbits on a daily basis.
One last thing, nearly every study that supports the health benefits of chocolate also suggests that a little bit will do the trick. So, have a square and enjoy, daily if you like.

Thank you! I am driven to help people understand that there is candy with chocolate in it and is really BAD for the body vs. pure cold raw pressed chocolate that is SO GOOD for you! When you select the ‘right kind’ of chocolate it IS like giving yourself a hug on the inside. Everyone needs a chocolate hug!
