Is there such a thing as lucky food? Some people certainly think so. In various cultures around the world, certain foods have been thought to be lucky for generations and generations. Black-eyed peas (said to symbolize good fortune) are a traditional, if Southern, lucky food in America. There are many others. Check out the following [...]

So you’ve fallen off the bandwagon over the holidays… maybe you’ve put on a few pounds and skipped more than a few workouts.  Don’t let yourself get stuck in this routine! Make the decision to get back on track today.  Most individuals find themselves putting off until tomorrow what they could start today.  This happens [...]

I made this delicious and ridiculously easy butternut squash soup after learning about a similar recipe while studying at Maison Troigros in Roanne, France. I recently cooked it for a TV audience. Enjoy!

Makes 6 ½ to 7 cups
Ingredients:

3 cups rice milk
3 tbs marzipan
1 whole nutmeg [...]

The past three years I’ve had the great fortune and opportunity to travel to France, Italy, Denmark, and NYC to learn from some of the greatest chefs including Daniel Boulud, Rene Redzepi, and [...]

Whether you’re an omnivore, a vegetarian or even a vegan, almost everyone can eat beans.  Unless of course you suffer from an allergy to them.  They are considered “heart healthy,” can be cooked as your entree or as a side dish.  You can cook them in an electric “slow cooker,” cast iron pot or as [...]

As a swimmer and athlete I’ve been fortunate to learn and experience many life lessons through the sport I love. Not only does swimming prepare us to work hard, sacrifice, overcome physical and often mental difficulties, but it can also teaches us to think beyond the lane lines. Saturday night I visited a team in Round [...]

Pretty Important!  We may not realize how dependent we are on good, functioning joints until we suffer severe pain.  One of those super important joints is your scapula.  A major ailment is Scapular Dyskinesia.
The shoulder blade (scapula) provides a base from which the arm functions. This base needs to be both mobile, to allow [...]
